Time to put on your shades! For today’s summer lightning nail art I used all 7 of the new faded neons from the KBShimmer 2015 Summer Collection, plus one of the crelly glitters. While I am enjoying the occasional rain we are having right now in San Diego, California, I always anticipate those summer months. Who else is ready for summer?
For this look I first put down three thin coats of the gorgeous pink glitter called Pink-a Colada. I had been wearing the color for a day already so I didn’t feel too bad covering it up! 😉 To create the lightning bolts I used some handy vinyl nail art stencils from Nail Mail.
I placed one on the center of each nail then pre-shook and opened each polish color so I would be able to get to them quickly. Doing one nail at a time I painted the bottom color, then the tip, using two medium coats of each polish. Using craft tweezers I quickly pulled off the stencil but because doing two colors took me a bit too long the polish was already sticky – but the lines still came out mostly clean!
After repeating the above process for each nail I then took a thin detail brush dipped in black acrylic pain and outlined the lines for the lightning bolt. I’ve been practicing my lines but you can’t really tell here – I’ve been super sick so my hand was really shaky. But I still like it! Without the line the lightning bolt was obvious, but the glitter wasn’t. I think the line really makes everything pop! What do you think?

Glad to hear you are getting some rain. Sorry to hear you have been sick. Hope things get better!
Your mani is so much fun! I love all those colors (and congrats on the black lines – wayyyyy better than I can do!). I am currently on a no/low-buy but have been seeing these polishes featured a bit and really do like them. Maybe when I can finally come off the no buy, I can get them in my collection. Plus some of the others from that humongous collection! Thank you so much for the wonderful photos and for sharing your review with us!
Hi Lara,
Thank you so much for the compliment! I really, really, really technically should be on a no-buy too. But I’ve now accepted that during the transition between spring/summer there are just too much new polish to love. But now that’s it’s over I have most everything I’ve seen come out that I wanted except for the new Fun Lacquer collections – LE Birthday 2015 and LE Love 2015. So pretty! Thanks for stopping by.
This is SO COOL. I love the jelly glitter as the lightening bolt. It adds a ton of dimension!
Thank you so much! This pink crelly glitter Pink-a Colada is now one of my favorites in my collection, love it!
